Rev. Milton Rohane, 78
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Rev. Milton Alan Rohane, 78, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of North Adams, died May 28, 2001, in London, England, while on his annual trip to Europe.
Born in North Adams on May 10, 1923, son of Jeremiah and Grace Rohane, he attended Houghton School and graduated from Drury High School in 1941. He attended Bliss Business College before enrolling at Columbia University. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1949 with a bachelor's degree and entered its three-year theological program. He completed his bachelor's degree in divinity from the University of the South at Sewanee, Texas.
He was ordained a deacon in 1952 in St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams and as a priest a year later at St. Paul's Church in Albuquerque, where he had resided in because of health reasons.
The Rev. Milton was a priest of the Episcopal Church in Albuquerque for many years, lastly as rector of Trinity on-the-Hill in Los Alamos, N.M., from 1968 until 1984.
His wife, the former Nancy Lane, died in 1980. After his wife's death, he took an early retirement and moved to San Diego.
He leaves four sons, Kevin Rohane of Randolph, N.J., Jeremy Rohane of Amarillo, Texas, Timothy Rohane of San Diego, and Andrew Rohane of Albuquerque; a brother, Robert Rohane of Gibsonton, Fla.; a sister, Maisie Pierce of Williamstown, and seven grandchildren.
