James Y. Hart Jr., 46

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - James Y. Hart Jr., 46, of 656 State Road died Monday, Dec. 26, 2000, at North Adams Regional Hospital after being stricken earlier at his home. Born in North Adams on Oct. 5, 1954, son of James Y. Hart Sr. and Mary Bowman Hart of Williamstown, he attended schools in Williamstown and graduated in 1973 from Charles H. McCann Technical School in North Adams. After graduation, he traveled through the western United States. Mr. Hart was employed by several construction companies in Berkshire County, including Emerson, Petricca, and Virgilio. He had been employed for the past 14 years by Berkshire Gas Co. and at the time of his death was an active supervisor for the Northern Berkshire road crew. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. He was a fan of auto racing, including drag racing and NASCAR. He enjoyed camping and hunting, and collected and restored antique automobiles. Besides his parents, he leaves his companion, Diane Bleau; sister, Laura Hart-Brown and her husband, Thomas Brown, of Roanoke, Va.; a brother, Stephen Mason Hart of Williamstown; two stepdaughters, Aja and Shannon Daugherty of North Adams; and a nephew Travis Brown of Roanoke. FUNERAL NOTICE - A Holy Eucharistic Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hart will be held Friday at 11 at St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the James Y. Hart Jr. Youth Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.
