Mary Edgerton, 89
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mary Edgerton, 89, formerly of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph Court, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in West Leigh, Lancashire, England, on Oct. 17, 1916, daughter of Francis and Mary Burke Lynch, she emigrated to North Adams at the age of 5 and graduated from Drury High School in 1934.
She also attended the former Bliss Business College in North Adams.
Mrs. Edgerton was employed as an executive secretary for the dean's office at the former North Adams State College from 1964 to 1977.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of its Rosary Society, a former communicant of Our Lady of the Incarnation Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 296.
Her husband, Francis P. Edgerton, whom she married Jan. 24, 1942, in St. Francis' Church, died April 19, 1964.
She leaves three sons, Michael F. Edgerton of Danvers, Norman W. Edgerton of Lincoln and Gary R. Edgerton of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Frances Vanuni, and four grandchildren, Laura, Shannon, Katherine and Mary Ellen Edgerton.
She was predeceased by two brothers, James and John Lynch.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Edgerton will be celebrated Saturday at 11 at St. Francis' Church, North Adams.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, will be Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30. Memorial donations are suggested for St. Francis' Church through the funeral home.
