Veronica Crockwell, 82
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Veronica May Crockwell, 82, of 45 Spring St., Spring Street Apartments, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at North Adams Commons.
Born in Gardner on May 28, 1924, daughter of Edward LaRoche and Ada Brayman LaRoche Raymond Ritcher, she moved to Clarksburg at an early age with her family and attended schools in Clarksburg and North Adams, including Drury High School.
Mrs. Crockwell was employed by the former H.W. Clark Biscuit Co., the Wall-Streeter Shoe Co., and Sprague Electric Co., all in North Adams. Primarily she was a homemaker for her family.
She was a former member of First Baptist Church of North Adams and later attended Harvest Christian Ministries of Bennington, Vt.
She and her husband, George John Crockwell, were married Dec. 22, 1949. He died Aug. 6, 1991.
She leaves four daughters, Linda DeSanty of Pownal, Vt., Veronica Rhoades of Pittsfield, Deborah Thorsson of New Smyrna, Fla., and Dorothy O'Dell of North Adams; two sons, George John Crockwell Jr. of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and David Edward Crockwell of Adams; a sister, Carolyn Brazeau of North Adams; three brothers, Calvin Ritcher of North Adams and Clarence Ritcher and Robert Ritcher; 28 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Dunnells, on Dec. 28, 2003, and by a brother, Alfred "Skeet" Ritcher, and two half-brothers, Henry and Theodore Raymond.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Crockwell will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Harvest Christian Ministries, 945 East Main St., Bennington, Vt.
