Claire T. D'Amico, 82

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Claire Theresa D'Amico, 82, of 19 Bracewell Ave., died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on May 11, 1925, daughter of William T. and Marion Gauthier Green, she attended North Adams schools until her family moved to Adams. She graduated from the former Adams High School and from Bryant & Stratton School of Business. A Navy veteran of World War II, she served from Aug. 8, 1945, as a hospital apprentice, second class until her honorable discharge on July 15, 1946. She was awarded the World War II Victory Medal for her service. Mrs. D'Amico was co-owner and proprietor of Claire's Photo Supply Store on Eagle Street with her husband, Howard B. D'Amico. She was a devoted homemaker for her family. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a former member of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion and past commander of American Legion District 1. She was a member of Benjamin F. Sullivan Post 155 American Legion of Dalton, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans of Boston. She was also active in several other organizations concerned with veterans' affairs. Besides her husband, whom she married Nov. 15, 1952, she leaves four sons, Peter D'Amico of Los Angeles, Paul D'Amico of Afghanistan, Mark D'Amico of Plainville and Howard D'Amico Jr. of Douglas; a daughter, Cindy Shepard of Adams; four grandchildren, Laurie Shepard of Woburn, Amy Shepard of Adams, Thomas and Laurin D'Amico, both of Douglas, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Baker, and two brothers, Gerald Green and William Green. FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. D'Amico will take place Thursday at 8:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Anthony's Church. Burial with military honors will take place at 2 p.m. in Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, any donations in her memory are suggested for American Legion Post 155 of Dalton through the funeral home.
