Georgimae Lord, 72

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Georgimae Lord, 72, of 45 Spring St. died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Williamstown on Nov. 30, 1938, a daughter of Arthur and Georgimae Cater Joy, she moved to North Adams as a child and attended city schools. Mrs. Lord worked for several textile mills in the area and was last employed at the former General Cable Co. in Williamstown. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army and was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary VFW Post 996. She and her husband, George G. Lord Sr., were married Nov. 4, 1989, in North Adams. Besides her husband, she leaves four daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Robert Willard of Anson, Maine, Penny and Terry Shaffer of Portland, Maine, Joy and Brad Davis of Chesnee, S.C., and Margaret and John Paulin of North Adams; two sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Deborah Mongeau of North Adams and Fred and Cindy Mongeau of North Adams; two stepdaughters, Mary Ann Champney and her husband, Mark, of the town of Florida and Patti-Jo St. Jacques and her husband, Todd, of Monroe; three stepsons, George G. Lord Jr. and his companion Freda Nielson of North Adams, Mark A. Lord of Vermont and Scott F. Lord and his wife, Buffy, of Pittsfield; and a sister, Lillian Rhyner of Boiling Springs, S.C. She was predeceased by her son Gary Mongeau and a grandson, Dan Briggs. FUNERAL NOTICE - Graveside services for Mrs. Lord will take place Thursday, Oct. 20, at 11 at the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. A reception will follow at the VFW Post on the Mohawk Trail at noon. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for VFW Post 996 Christmas Program or to the Special Olympics through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
