George G. Lord Sr., 80

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — George G. Lord Sr., 80, of North Adams died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on June 27, 1933, a son of George Lord and Lillian Senecal Lord Clark, he graduated from Drury High School. A decorated Navy veteran, he served during the Korean War. Mr. Lord was employed for more than 44 years at the former Sprague Electric Co., retiring in 1995. He was a member and past commander of Dr. George L. Curran VFW Post 996. His first wife, the former Patricia Mae Soldati, whom he married Feb. 16, 1957, died Oct. 11, 1988. His wife, the former Georgimae Joy, whom he married Nov. 4, 1989, died Oct. 16, 2011. He leaves two daughters, Mary Ann Champney and her husband, Mark, and Patti-Jo St. Jacques and her husband, Todd; three sons, George G. Lord Jr. and his companion, Freda Nielsen, Mark Lord and his companion, Kerry Cassidy, and Scott Lord and his wife, Buffy; four stepdaughters, Sandra Willard and her husband, Robert, Penny Shaffer and her husband, Terry, Joy Davis and her husband, Brad, and Margaret Paulin and her husband, John; two stepsons, Arthur Mongeau and his wife, Deborah, and Fred Mongeau and his wife, Cindy; a brother, Lawrence Lord; two sisters, Patricia Harding and Christine Bellew, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepson Gary Mongeau and stepgrandson Dan Briggs; his sisters Celia Wojcik, Beverly Flagg, June Gardner and Pauline Tovani, and brothers Henry Lord and Lawrence Clark. FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Lord will take place in the spring at Southview Cemetery, North Adams. At his request, there will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams VFW Christmas Program through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals.
