Matthew J. Crawford, 56

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Matthew James Crawford, 56, of 24 Watson St. died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at his home. Born in North Adams on June 13, 1955, son of Matthew R. and Lucille "Totsy" Monette Crawford, he attended local schools and graduated in 1973 from Drury High School, where he was outstanding athlete and played on the varsity football team for three years. He was a co-captain his senior year and was named to the All-League team. He also graduated in 1977 from Framingham State College, where he played varsity football for four years and was co-captain his senior year. He was also named to the All-Eastern Mass team as a senior. He had resided in Dracut until 2008. Mr. Crawford had been employed for the past 15 years by Aramark Corp in Boston. Before that, he worked at Time Electronics. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed following local and professional sports teams and recently received the DelNegro Award for his contributions to Drury High School football. He was known for his friendly, outgoing personality and will be missed by his numerous friends He leaves his niece, Shannon Zoito and her husband, Jeremy, and their children, Allison, Tess and Olivia, all of North Adams; his nephew, Matthew Dubie; his brother-in-law, Dennis Dubie of North Adams; his longtime close friend, Beverly Clarke of Clarksburg, and aunts, uncles and cousins. His sister, Debra Dubie, died on Dec. 28, 2003. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Crawford will be Friday, Dec. 23, at 10:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, Dec. 22, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Drury High School Athletic Department in care of the funeral home.

Matt and go back to a spring baseball game in Scottsdale, AZ, in about 1986. He was instantly hired by my best friend and boss at Time Electronics.
Matt became as said above, a smile maker and succeed beyond Compare!! I have spent many complemtave days over the years with Matt He. Has. Left. An. Indelible. Mark. On. Me!

Sail on Matt...so many Drury foootball memories and perhaps the funniest one was when Matt wanted to be a field goal kicker. Called himself "Jan Chettirud" after KC kicker Jan Stenerud. Anyone else remember any of this ?

Life is too short. Matt will be deeply missed. Matt always had a smile on his face and always put one on mine.
