Mark L. Daniels, 49

ADAMS, Mass. — Mark L. Daniels, 49, formerly of Adams and Cheshire, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 13, 2012, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Roxbury, where he was a patient in the Spinal Cord Injury Unit. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family and his caring medical team. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 7, 1962, son of Theresa Les Daniels of Adams and the late Louis Daniels, he attended schools in Adams, and graduated from Hoosac Valley High School with the class of 1981. An Army veteran, he entered the service in January 1982 and served until his honorable discharge in January 1985. He also served with the National Guard for several years. Mr. Daneisl was employed by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation as an engineering aide for many years, retiring in 2008 because of illness. He enjoyed skiing, bird watching, camping, music festivals, traveling, and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Besides his mother, he leaves two sisters, Melanie A. Bushey and her husband, Michael, and Susan M. Davenport and her husband, Ronald, all of Adams; a niece, Brenna S. Bushey, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves his close friends from Greylock Villa in Cheshire, his colleagues at the MassDOT garage in South county, and the friends he grew up with in Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside funeral service for Mr. Daniels will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Deacon Gregory LaFreniere, of the Parish of Pope John Paul the Great, Adams, will officiate. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fisher House, which is an inn that families of patients at the VA Medical Center can use for lodging; or to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, through Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements.
