Albert E. Rondeau, 89

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Albert Edward Rondeau, 89, of 48 Pinehill Terrace died peacefully on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at home under the loving care of his family. Born in North Adams on Nov. 19, 1922, son of Albert B. and Eudocha Holland Rondeau, he attended city schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1942 and from the University of Vermont in 1950. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 104th Infantry Division, the "Timberwolves," in Europe until his honorable discharge on Dec. 6, 1945. Mr.Rondeau worked as an electrical engineer at the former Sprague Electric Co. in its filter division for 34 years, retiring as a senior product engineer in 1984. He was an active communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister, lector, and volunteer for many years. He enjoyed building things and designed his own home and helped build it. After his retirement, he enjoyed travel and was an active member of the National Timberwolf Association, enjoying many trips to reunions with his wife, traveling through all but nine states. He and his wife, the former Barbara Ann Brelia, were married on Nov. 26, 1949. Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Susan Lecorre and her husband, Joel of Ottawa, Karen Rondeau-Brigham and her husband, David, of North Adams and Diane Dwyer and her husband, Ken of Webster; two sons, David Rondeau and his wife, Gail, of Adams and Alan Rondeau of North Adams; a sister, Vivian Dale of Williamstown; seven grandchildren, Marc Lecorre, Carolyn Lecorre, Ethan Brigham, Aaron Brigham, Samantha Dwyer, Meghan Dwyer and Julie Dwyer; a sister-in-law, Rose Rondeau, a brother-in law, Robert Purdy, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters: Andrew "Bud" Rondeau, Nelson Rondeau, Eudocha "Dolly" Richard, Lillian Wiles and Jean Purdy. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Rondeau will be celebrated Monday, April 30, at 11 a.m. from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church or the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
