John Gaspardi, 74

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - John Gaspardi, 74, of 180 West Shaft Road died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on Feb. 17, 1938, son of Battista and Josephina Segala Gaspardi, he attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1957. He also attended Berkshire Community College. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard for nine years. Mrs. Gaspardi was a police officer for the city of North Adams for 29 years, until his retirement in 1988. He also was the owner and operator of West Shaft Auto Body Shop for many years. He was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the North Adams Lions Club and the North Adams Elks. He enjoyed working on cars, farming and trips to the casinos in Las Vegas, Mohegan Sun, Atlantic City, and Saratoga. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending their activities. He will be remembered for his generous and giving spirit, helping people whenever they needed it. He leaves four daughters, Cindy LaFond and her husband, Paul, of Manchester, N.H., Linda Gaspardi Febles and her companion, Tim Dolan, of Pittsfield, Karen Cantoni and her husband, Joseph, and Billie-Jo Corbosiero, all of North Adams; his brother, Enrico F. Gaspardi of North Adams; 11 grandchildren, Monique LaFond, Michael LaFond, Vanessa LaFond, Danielle LaFond, Kahla Maher, Josiphine Febles, Jonathon Cantoni, Samantha Lacosse, Nikolas Corbosiero, Dominik Corbosiero, and Anthony Corbosiero; a great-grandson, Chase Lacosse; nieces and nephews, and his constant companion Magilla. His son, John Michael Gaspardi, died Sept. 2, 1995. He also was predeceased by his siblings, twins Catherine Gaspardi at age 3 and Francis Gaspardi, Mary Barbeau and Louis Gaspardi. FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mr. Gaspardi will be Saturday, June 30, at 9:30 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St. North Adams followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, June 29, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Adams DARE Program in care of the funeral home.

Your dad, grandpa was a very kind, generous and loving man and I was fortunate to have had the chance to meet and get to know him.
