PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Ryan Garvey and Jackson Lavalley led the Westfield High baseball team over Taconic, 8-2, on Friday to sweep the season series.

Prior to Friday's matchup Westfield defeated Taconic 7-3 early in the season to hand the Thunder their first loss.

Taconic (3-3) is coming off a disappointing loss against Agawam (4-3), 8-0, which also happened to be a no-hitter.

Quentin Christopher had the bump today facing off against Westfield's offense.

The Bombers brought the bats early with a leadoff home run hit by Patrick Moore.

Westfield followed that up with a strong third inning effort, bringing across five runs on four hits.

By this point Westfield led 6-2, already forcing Christopher to throw 60 pitches through four.

For Taconic, Evan Roccabruna, Gavin O’Donnell, and Connor Paronto led the bats with a hit each.

Christopher gave himself some run support early in the game with an RBI.

But after a rough third inning, the recovery for Taconic seemed out of reach.

Westfield's Lavalley pitched the complete game, recording 10 strikeouts and four walks and only allowing four hits.

Taconic catcher Christian Aldrich was giving his team energy all game despite not being a batter for the game, controlling his defense with motivation.

Westfield (7-1) now faces off against Pittsfield (6-1) on Tuesday following Pittsfield's 5-4 loss against West Side on Friday.

Meanwhile, Taconic moves to (3-3) and will face off against Monument Mountain (2-1) Saturday at 2 p.m.
