DALTON, Mass. – Casey Wilson pitched six innings without giving up an earned run, and the Wahconah softball team Tuesday beat South Hadley, 5-2, to advance to the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class B tournament.

Wilson struck out four and walked three before giving the ball to Taylar Hickey, who threw one inning of scoreless relief.

Elena Iovieno led Wahconah’s offense, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Wilson and Emma Belcher accounted for Wahconah’s other two hits.

“I’m proud of the way we competed against a very good pitcher,” Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. “Great team win.”

South Hadley’s Isabella Schaeffer struck out 12 in the loss.

Wahconah (9-10) moves on to face top-seeded Hampshire on Thursday in the semis.
