WILLIAMSTOWN -- After scoring 10 runs in a loss on Wednesday, the Mount Greylock softball team's offense put up another big number on Friday, beating Lee 14-2 at home for its first win of the season.

Junior captain Catie Benoit led the way with three hits and three RBI, while Michaela DiNicola, Anna Penna and Sierra Holland each knocked in two runs apiece. Sophomore Alexis Bushika also had a solid day at the plate, collecting three hits to go along with three runs scored.

The Mounties (1-1) scored a run each in the first and second innings and then took firm control of the game with an eight-run fourth inning.

"Offensively, we had to work for the two runs we got in the first three innings," Greylock head coach June Blake said. "Then our bats came alive in the fourth, where we rallied for eight runs on five hits. Defensively, we had a strong performance, making the plays behind our pitcher."

Bushika picked up her first win of the season in the circle, allowing one earned run on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks. The Mounties' defense improved from their first outing, cutting their errors down from four to two.

Greylock next plays at Wahconah at 4 p.m. on Monday.
