CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Joe Delmolino scored nine of his game-high 18 points in the second quarter to lead the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team to a 55-36 win over Lenox on Monday night.

The Hurricanes outscored the Millionaires, 21-11, in that second quarter to take a 29-21 lead into half-time.

Hoosac Valley (3-1) clamped down defensively in the third quarter, holding Lenox to just three points to take a commanding, 42-24 lead going into the final eight minutes.

“Another good team effort with a fairly solid defensive effort in the second half,” Hoosac Valley coach David Harte said. “We shared the ball, found a few holes behind the back of their zone but they play it very hard.

“Joe Delmolino And Izaha Stubbs both filled the stat sheet and we played very hard. We still get sloppy in transition and need to get better getting a shot on every possession. We need to get back at it tomorrow and improve on both ends.”

Stubbs finished with 11 points, and Sam Larabee had 10 in the win.

Jett Steinman and Nick Nicotra scored 13 and 11, respectively, for Lenox.

The Millionaires (1-3) host Pittsfield on Wednesday.

Hoosac Valley takes a two-game winning streak into Wednesday’s game against Lee.
