Russell Leads Blue Devils in Road Comeback

LUDLOW, Mass. – Alyssa Russell scored 12 points Tuesday, and the short-handed Drury girls basketball team came from behind to beat Ludlow, 35-33.

 

The Lions were up, 31-25, going to the fourth quarter.

 

But Russell hit one of her three 3-pointers, and Eva Moser scored four of her eight points in the last eight minutes.

 

Drury coach Ian Downey said his squad had trouble shaking off the long bus ride to Ludlow and was hampered by the absence of Brooke Bishop and her presence on the boards.

 

“We finally stepped it up on the defensive end in the second half,” Downey said. “Eva Moser gave us some scoring which was huge. I especially want to call out our bench. We got a lot of big minutes from girls that don’t normally play which provided the spark we needed in the second half.

 

“It might not show up in the stat book, but them coming in and giving our rotational players minutes was the reason we won.”

Jacinta Felix added six points in the win.

 

Drury (2-3) goes to Mount Greylock on Friday.
