Print Story | Email Story
Grafton Lakes State Park and the park's Friends organization are co-hosting the 19th Annual Winter Festival at the park on Saturday, January 24th, 2003, from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. In addition to the park's ongoing indoor and outdoor exhibits, the festival will feature environmental and recreational workshops and outings, including a snow sculpture contest for the kids, dogsled rides, an ice fishing tournament, and horse-drawn sleigh rides. An entry fee is required to participate in the fishing tournament, but the Winter Festival itself remains free of charge. A free snowmobile safety course will be given for all ages from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Because class size is limited, participants must register in advance by calling the park at 518-279-1155. Visitors may ice skate at Long Pond and rent snowshoes from the park office throughout the winter. Snowshoe rental rates are $10 per day, $5 per half day, and group rates are available. Snowshoe and cross-country ski outings will take place all day. Bring your family and friends to our Winter Festival at Grafton Lakes, and enjoy a wonderful day of winter activities.
