Williamstown, MA – Williams seniors Jon Drenckhahn (WR) and center Chris Kenney have been named to the D3football.com All-East First Team and junior QB Pat Lucey has been accorded Third Team All-East honors.
Drenckhahn, the Ephs' all-time leader in receptions with 135, led NESCAC the last two years in receptions snaring 51 passes each season to climb to the top of the Eph record book. Drenckhahn's 51 catches this season generated 762 yards and seven TDs. In his career he averaged 4.7 catches a game in 29 games and he accounted for 1,759 yards (13.0/catch) and scored 11 TDs. Drenckhahn was his best in the biggest games, but he also starred when the Ephs traveled to Hamilton to play in a driving rain on a field resembling a mud bowl. He caught 12 passes that day for 111 yards and scored both Eph TDs in the 15-0 win.
Kenney, who is currently training with Team USA for the 10th Aztec Bowl vs. Mexico on Dec. 16th, was a three-year starter on the offensive line for the Ephs and he never allowed a sack. Kenney was the lone returning starter up front for the Ephs this season and head coach Mike Whalen credits Kenney with helping mold a young corps of lineman into an effective unit. The Ephs averaged 402.2 yards a game and tied the school record for yards passing with 2,106. The offensive line allowed but seven sacks on the season, less than one a game.
Lucey, to be accurate, is one of the most accurate passers to play for the Ephs. This season he connected on 112 of 168 passes (67%) and that's down from his career average of (69%). He threw for 1,528 yards and 14 TDs. Lucey was intercepted just four times and his QB efficiency rating for the year was an impressive 165.80. In 329 career pass attempts Lucey has been picked off just seven times. He has completed 226 of his passes for 2,724 yards and 21 TDs. He was named the Boston Globe Gold Helmet award winner for his role in the 41-16 win over Trinity that ended the Bantams' win streak at 31 (then the longest in the nation). He hit on 19 of 27 passes vs. Trinity for 238 yards and three TDs and he ran six times for 36 yards. In the season finale in Amherst Lucey was even better – 17-22 for a career best 368 yards and three more TDs.
Ephs Leary & Huffer Named 1st Team NSCAA All-Americans
Mission, KS – Williams seniors Dana Leary and Patrick Huffer have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America 1st Team. This marks the second year in a row that Leary has been named to the NSCAA 1st Team.
Leary and Huffer both lettered for four years and helped lead the Ephs to a record of 57-9-6 (.833). Williams advanced to the NCAA Tournament all four years, winning the NESCAC Tournament three times and the NESCAC regular season title four times.
Leary, a 6' 3" defender, owned the box and the backline for the Ephs who allowed but eight goals in 17 games. A gifted all-around player, Leary was often deployed in the attacking end of the field on restarts and corner kicks. This fall he netted four goals and three were game-winners. In his career Leary scored 16 goals and assisted on seven for a point total of 39.
Huffer led Williams and NESCAC in goals scored this season with 14, making this the third consecutive year he led the Ephs in goals scored and the second straight year he led in total points.
An indefatigable midfielder, Huffer, scored three game-winning goals this fall and converted his only PK opportunity in a game. He netted a picture perfect game-winner in OT to lift the Ephs over Wesleyan 2-1, putting the Ephs in position to win a fourth straight NESCAC regular season title. Over the past four seasons Huffer tallied 33 goals and registered 10 assists for 76 points.
With the selection of Leary and Huffer to the 2006 NSCAA All-America 1st Team Eph head coach Mike Russo has now coached 43 All-Americans at Williams.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Licensing Board OK'd alterations for several local businesses during its last meeting of the year on Monday.
This includes an amendment to the Berkshire Museum's entertainment license in advance of its reopening after capital improvements, a change of license category for Hot Plate Brewing Co., and a change of catering company for Berkshire Hills Country Club.
It's been a good year for Hot Plate, as they were nominated No. 3 in USA Today's list of "Best New Brewery," and can now serve all alcoholic beverages. Because of a new state law, businesses can trade an existing beer and wine license for an all-alcohol license.
"The state saw this as an opportunity to enhance businesses all across the commonwealth of Massachusetts," Chair Thomas Campoli explained.
Executive Director Kimberley Bush Tomio explained that there are no proposed changes in entertainment from the former license, and board members suggested moving the license's hours later than 5 p.m. in case of an event at the museum.
"It's going to be phenomenal when we get open," she said. "And we do hope to help support the museum through rentals and things like that, so it's helpful to have this license in place."
Berkshire Hills Country Club will have a new in-house food provider, as the board approved a management agreement with Berkshire Hospitality Group, which operates the restaurant at Shire Breu-Haus in Dalton.
