Shake off the winter blues at North Adams' WinterFest! The North side of Main Street will be closed to make way for a full day of family-friendly activities, which will include ice sculpting, horse drawn wagon rides, a winter play area, a community camp fire, winter-themed art projects, and much more! As always, between 12 and 2 the public is invited to taste chowders offered up by area eateries and vote for their favorite. The day will end with a skate party at the North Adams Skating Rink. Performances, vendors, and events are added daily, so email tourism@northadams-ma.gov for a full schedule.

Mulherrin's history as a painter goes back to his childhood, however he didn't develop a sense of real commitment or focus until the age of thirty. "Before that painting was something I did; after that it as something I was" states the artist. One the most enjoyable aspect of being an artist, Mulherrin reflects, "Most people have no such record of the evolution of their own psyche. They might have love letters and old photographs. Artists have their work, something tangible, an object they can look at outside of their own head, evidence of their own history and the places their spirit has traveled."

Some Assembly Required February 2 - September 8, 2013
Albany International Airport Gallery
Albany, NY
Many of our DSA friends are featured at the Albany International Airport Gallery. Get to see the work of Laura Christensen, Mary Lum, Michael Oatman, Rich Remsberg, and Anne Roecklein among others! The exhibition is centered around the theme of coll, from the French word coller, meaning 'to glue,' which has been associated for over a century with the activity of cutting, rearranging, and fastening together assorted materials to make a new composition. Today, access to a dizzying variety of materials, processes and data has provided artists with a deep pool of ingredients to consider.
