LENOX, Mass. —The Mount, Edith Wharton’s Home, is pleased to announce its line-up for the 2022 Concerts in the Dell.

The reimagined concert series expands upon the former “Jazz on the Terrace” model to include a diverse range of musical styles and influences, ranging from indie blues to globally inspired jazz.

Concerts will take place in the Dell below The Mount’s Stable, or in an open-sided tent, rain or shine. Performances are scheduled for six consecutive Thursdays, July 14 to Aug. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults and free for youth 18 and under. 100% of ticket proceeds will be directed to Cash for Refugees in support of Ukrainian relief efforts.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase musical styles from around the world," said Patricia Pin, The Mount’s Public Program Director. "By moving our concert series to the Dell, we are also able to achieve our joint goals of accommodating a larger audience while remaining good stewards of The Mount property."

The Mount has also partnered with Berkshire Picnics to offer a stylized dining experience, available for pre-order at least 48 hours before each show. More information about the picnic option is available at berkshirepicnics.com.

Adult beverages and snacks will be available for purchase on-site; please note that all alcohol must be purchased on-site per The Mount’s liquor license requirements. For more information and images, please contact Jennifer Beeson at jbeeson@edithwharton.org, 413-551-5115.

Dalton Library Trustees Navigate How to Spend State Aid

By Sabrina DammsiBerkshires Staff
DALTON, Mass. — The library trustees navigated the best way to spend the state aid during their meeting on Monday evening.

This year, the library received $19,928.23 from state aid, which has to be used to improve the library and the patron experience.

The library receives two state aid disbursements every year. The amounts vary annually based on population and other factors.

Library Director Janet Forest said she is interested in having the library invest in a screen and a projector.

This would be a meaningful addition to the library that numerous library programs can utilize. At the moment, the library has a portable projector and screen. This purchase would allow the library to do more screenings and presentations.

Trustee Leo Quiles said this is a great idea and opens up the possibility of more programming, such as screenings of Academy shorts, which the Berkshire Museum does in its theater.

Forest agreed and said she had communicated with a librarian at the Becket Library, which has an adult movie night. The librarian informed her that libraries must have the right to screen films by paying a licensing fee.
