BENNINGTON, Mass. — Bennington Community Theater will present Slideshow, an evening of short plays about family and community, from Oct. 14 to 23, 2022 at Bennington Performing Arts Center (BPAC).

Directed by Jennifer Jasper (FULLY COMMITTED, LOVE TRAVELS FAST) and HK Goldstein (BRAND NEW DAY), the evening is like taking a stroll around your neighborhood and hearing stories coming from open windows. Plus, musical interludes by our own Slideshow band.

The playwrights represent both coasts and offer unique stories told in ten minutes. "Spark" by Jennifer Jasper (Bennington) is a comedy about revenge. Family competition heats up in "Game Night," and "Skips A Generation" lets us listen in on ghostly conversations between grandmothers and granddaughters, both by Scot Augustson (Seattle).

"A Mother’s Privilege" by Donna Hoke (New York) is a comedic look at a baby announcement. "Inheritance" also by Jennifer Jasper, grapples with choice for three generations. An elderly couple comes to terms with letting go in "If I Go First" by Michael Brady (Great Barrington). The evening closes with "Hipster Sister" by Andy Roninson (NYC), a ten-minute musical about a free-spirited sister overstaying her welcome.

The cast of 13 includes BCT veterans, Mary Jo Greco, Brian Barney, Danny Townsend, Ted DeBonis, Ingrid Madelayne and Emma Jansch. We are excited to welcome to our stage newcomers Tanya Gorlow, Kerry Kazmierowicztrimm, Jeannine Trimboli, Dylan Angell, Caitlyn Angell and Debbie Warnock.

"Slideshow" runs October 14-23, 2022 at BPAC, 331 Main Street. Tickets are $10-$15. Get tickets at bpacvt.org/tickets or call the box office at 802-447-0564.

Dalton OKs $22M Budget; Tables Concrete Sidewalk Article

By Sabrina DammsiBerkshires Staff
DALTON, Mass. — Voters approved all but one of the 22 articles on the warrant at the annual town meeting on Monday night at Wahconah Regional High School.

More than one hundred registered voters attended the meeting, which lasted more than three hours, to vote on the budget, school district regional agreement, a proposed bylaw change, and various spending items for town equipment, repairs, projects, and initiatives.

The town budget of $22,951,092 is an increase of $1,449,376, or approximately 6.74 percent, over this year. Of that, the Central Berkshire Regional School District assessment of $10,537,044 and the town operating budget of $10,147,991 are included.

Article 1, which proposed amending the town bylaw to make concrete sidewalks the standard, was tabled after a 20-minute discussion that included questions and concerns about its language. More on sidewalks here.

This has recently been a hot topic, making its way through town government boards and committees will continue with a Planning Board public hearing.

Planning Board member Zack McCain motioned to table the article until a public hearing, where the details could be discussed further. He said this is common practice for bylaw amendments.

During the discussion, voters also urged the need for sidewalks on Orchard Road. The Department of Public Works budget only has $12,000 to cover the cost of maintaining town sidewalks.
