RMV Advisory: Crash Report System Replacement

Print Story | Email Story
BOSTON — The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) announced a system replacement with its "Request a Crash Report" pagelet on its website and therefore this specific customer online transaction will be unavailable between 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, and approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

During this system replacement, any customers who are in urgent need of a copy of a crash report, may contact the local or state law enforcement agency where their crash occurred.

The updated Crash Data System replacement is being done to optimize the acceptance, maintenance, and accessibility of Massachusetts crash reports.

For customers trying to "Request a Crash Report" online, a message will display stating the transaction is unavailable due to a system replacement and to visit the site again on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023.

"Request a Crash Report" is the only transaction unavailable during this system replacement.  More than 40 Registry transactions remain available online at www.mass.gov/RMV.  The website offers options for customers to start or complete transactions, such as beginning applications, paying fees, scheduling permit appointments and road tests, and renewing a registration.

Dalton Lift Still in Limbo; ADA Picnic Tables Coming

By Sabrina DammsiBerkshires Staff
DALTON, Mass. — The lift for Town Hall has run into a conflict, Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator Alyssa Maschino informed the committee on Thursday.

According to Hill Engineering, Town Hall could install a vertical lift in the Police Department's closet and go up into the town account's office. However, no one wants to give up the closet or office, she said.

The lift has been out of service since December because of safety concerns. In the meantime, people with disabilities can use the lift in the library to access the town hall.

Previous attempts by Garaventa Lift to repair it have been unsuccessful.

Replacing it in the same location is not an option because the new weight limit requirement went from 400 pounds to 650 pounds. Determining whether the current railings can hold 650 pounds is outside the scope of Garaventa's services to the town.

According to a Garaventa Lift representative, a new lift in the same location can be installed, but the railings need to be replaced, committee Chair Patrick Pettit said.

Committee member David Wasielewski asked if Hill Engineering considered installing an elevator on the outside of the building.
