Week of the Young Child

12:00AM / Thursday, March 30, 2006

Week of the Young Child is almost here! This year we celebrate it from April 2-8, 2006. The theme for the Week of the Young Child 2006 is "Building Better Futures for All Children".

The Week of the Young Child (WOYC)is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), to celebrate young children and thank early childhood teachers and everyone involved in the care and education of young children. It is a time to recognize that children's opportunities are our responsibilities, and to recommit ourselves to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment--at home, at child care, at school, and in the community--that will promote their early learning.

Local communities may tailor WOYC celebrations and activities to meet their own needs. However adapted, the central purpose remains unchanged--to promote the needs of young children, their families, and the early childhood programs that serve them.

Please see the schedule below a list of planned activities sponsored by Northern Berkshire Community Partnership and other collaborators. All events are FREE and open to the public. Call 664-4615 for more information or to register for an event.
