Stamford, Vt. - An unexpected burst of snow and a standing-room only crowd set the stage for a very merry Dec. 19 holiday concert at the town's elementary school.

"I Just Like To Sing"

Students from every grade took the stage to sing songs or recite poems during an "Our Holiday Program" event. School music teacher Jamie Choquette directed the production and several teachers coached younger students through their performances.

Pre-school student Alex Lamortire, 4, demonstrated slumber as part of a pre-school class performance.
Student John Burchard, 10, agreed to a pre-performance interview.

John said he was happy to be among the performers and enjoyed learning the songs and attending concert practices.

"I just like to sing," he said.

Smart Turkeys; Who Knew?

Pre-school students delivered merriment via enthusiastic performances of "Going Over the Sea," "Santa", and "Jack In The Box."

Kindergarten students accompanied themselves with sleigh bells as they belted out "Jingle Bells" and drew laughter from the audience with their light-hearted recitation of "Snow Poem."

Kindergarten students joined first- and second-grade students as they sang "Frosty the Snowman" and then took their seats as the older students told the tale of "Five Smart Turkeys."

Third- and fourth-grade students offered energized renditions of "Winter Wonderland" and "On Christmas Day." "With A Little Help from My Friends" and "Sleigh Ride" provided the musical showcase for grades five and six, and seventh- and eighth-grade students rocked out with a version of the Beach Boy's "Little Saint Nick," then led all students in a rendition of "What A Wonderful World."

Sweets For The Sweet

Happy Holiday Wishes....
Audience members joined in to sing "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," and as the lyrics came to a close, a plump fellow with rosy red cheeks, a red suit, and lush white beard took the stage and delivered candy canes to students.

Solo performers included Anna Butcher, Christina Butcher, Katharine Plotts, Rachael Beckwith, Evan Schueckler, Tia Brown, Zia O'Neil, Jocelynne Smith, and Danielle Thomas. Masters of ceremony were Rikki Brown, Joshua Nodal, Katherine Plotts, and Jacob Tiegtens.

Live music was provided by the "Pit Band," and featured saxophone player Benjamin Carlson, Connor Johnson and Zia O'Neil, pianists, Arich Erdeski, bass guitar,Tyler Landry, drums, and Samuel Carlson, guitar.
