"Forty Under Forty" List Includes Manring, Dael

06:15AM / Wednesday, May 16, 2007

Springfield – The nominations have been judged and the first-ever "Forty Under 40" list has been announced by BusinessWest Magazine, the business journal for western Massachusetts.

A. Rima Dael, Program Administrator for Berkshire Bank Foundation in Pittsfield and Audrey Manring, Editor, the Women’s Times of Great Barrington, are among the winners.

The list recognizes the professional, civic, and community-oriented success of 40 young professionals working in the four counties of Western Mass. (Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire). Nearly 100 nominations were received, with names submitted by fellow business owners, managers, and other professionals living or working in the BusinessWest readership area.

Winners will be feted at a ceremony at the Log Cabin Banquet and Meeting House, in Holyoke on Thursday, June 21.

George O’Brien, editor of BusinessWest, said the Forty Under 40 was launched to identify young leaders in the local business community, and the list was chosen by a panel of civic and business leaders.

"The response was tremendous; there were roughly 100 nominations, and it was a very talented field, representing virtually every sector of the economy," he said. "When they were finished looking over their three-inch-thick folder of nominations and accompanying materials, our judges came away deeply impressed with the level of talent on display. They said having these young leaders — all of them, not just the chosen 40 — bodes well for the region and its future. Obviously, we at BusinessWest concur."

This year’s winners include the founder of a software company, a magazine publisher, a restaurateur, several attorneys and CPAs, the creator of a vodka label, a former women’s professional basketball player now doing branding for Spalding, and several now working for area non-profit agencies. See below for a full list of winners and their companies.

The gala is open to the business community; tickets are $39.60 ($.40 under $40). The winners are also featured in the May 14 issue of BusinessWest, and online at www.businesswest.com .

BusinessWest Magazine is the business journal of western Massachusetts, founded 23 years ago by Publisher John Gormally. Published bi-weekly, its readership spans from northern Connecticut to the New York and Vermont borders.
