TOWN OF ADAMS BOARD OF HEALTH

REGULATION PERTAINING TO PROHIBITION OF DOGS ON ATHLETIC FIELDS

Be it known that the Adams Board of Health, at their public meeting on July 7, 2021, adopted a regulation prohibiting dogs on athletic fields during the outdoor athletic season. Briefly, dogs are prohibited from the playing surfaces of the town’s four athletic fields – Russell Field, Renfrew Field, Valley Field, and Reid Field – from April 1 through December 15. Services dogs, appropriately leashed and muzzled, are exempted. Violators may be fined: $50 for the 1st offense, $100 for the 2nd offense, and not less than $300 for subsequent offenses. The effective date of this regulation is July 14, 2021. However, fines will be waived until July 28, 2021. The approved regulation is available from the Health Department office (413-743-8300 x104) and on the board’s webpage: town.adams.ma.us/board-health.
