Ronald N. Favreau, 75
ADAMS, Mass. — Ronald Nelson Favreau, 75, of Adams, died Saturday morning, Jan. 18, 2014, at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield.
Born in Adams on Feb. 2, 1938, a son of Nelson and Josephine Les Favreau, he attended Adams schools, including St. Stanislaus Kostka School, and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1956. He then completed coursework in accounting and tax preparation at the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Mr. Favreau became director of Central Office Services and purchasing agent at Williams College in Williamstown in 1977, retiring after 26 years of service in 2003. He began his career at the former Brightwater Paper Co., later Rochester Paper Co., in Adams, where he rose to the position of finishing room superintendent.
He was an active member of the National Association of Educational Buyers and the Association of College and University Printers. He was a former town meeting member, a corporator at the former South Adams Savings Bank and a member of the Maple Grove Civic Club. He had also served with the Massachusetts National Guard.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling and spent several winters in Punta Gorda, Fla. He was an avid sports fan and loved visiting ballparks and stadiums across the country. He also enjoyed bowling, gardening and golf. He was especially proud of his grandchildren.
He and his wife, the former Barbara Burns, his high school sweetheart, were married on June 4, 1960, in the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams.
Besides his wife of 53 years, he leaves two daughters, Brenda Lawson and her husband, Rick, of Belmont and Laurie Neyman and her husband, Eric, of North Andover; his sister, Beverly Favreau of Adams; his brother, Bernard Favreau and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Fairfield, Conn.; three grandchildren, Matthew Lawson, 16, Rachel Neyman, 11, and Lindsay Neyman, 8; and three nephews, Michael, Kevin and Christopher Favreau.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Favreau will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 9 a.m. from Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Gawienowski. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
