Edward C. Bergeron, 83

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Edward Charles Bergeron, 83, of 3 Myrtle St., Adams, died Saturday March 12, 2016, at North Adams Commons.
He was born in North Adams on May 26, 1932, a son of George and Telly Bourrie Bergeron. He attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School with the Class of 1950.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving with Company E, 35th Infantry Division in Korea and Hawaii, from 1951 until his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1955. He had also served with the Massachusetts National Guard for seven years.
Mr. Bergeron was last employed as a custodian for the Pittsfield School Department for several years, until retiring. Earlier, he had worked at the former Warren Wire Co.in Williamstown, and Albert's Hardware and Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams.
He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II, Adams, and was a member of Adams Post 160 American Legion.
He enjoyed woodworking and for many years built bird houses for many people in the area.
He is survived by his wife, the former Helen A. Rodriguez, whom he married on July 23, 1955, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams. In addition, he is survived by two daughters, Deborah Bergeron of Holyoke and Carla Grass and her husband Neil of Vanceboro, Maine; two sons, Mark Bergeron and his wife Kathy of Adams and Peter Bergeron of North Adams; two sisters, Theresa Phaneuf of North Adams and Lucille Duda of Windsor; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and Paul Bergeron, and by a sister, Alice Mancini.
FUNERAL SERVICE: The funeral will be on Thursday, March 17, at 9 a.m. at the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, McKinley Square, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Steven Montesanti, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
