Fulbert J. Daigle

Fulbert "Pete" J. Daigle, 75, of 3235 Main St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Mr. Daigle was an assessor for the town of Becket for 12 years, retiring in 1995. Born in Becket on July 22, 1926, son of Archie and Theodora Germain Daigle, he attended Becket and Chester schools. He served in the Army under Gen. George S. Patton during World War II. Mr. Daigle was employed by Cortland Grinding Wheels in Chester for 40 years. He was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11054. He was a former member of the Fire Department for 15 years and a longtime Little League coach. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He leaves his wife, the former Gene M. Lockwood, whom he married Dec. 31, 1944, in Dylan, S.C.; a daughter, Brenda J. Podolski of Becket; three sons, Ronald P. Daigle of Becket, Philip J. Daigle of Chester, and Larry J. Daigle of Pittsfield; a sister, Claire Mooney of Lenox; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 9 a.m. at St. Agnes' Church in Dalton, celebrated by the Rev. John A. Koonz, pastor. Burial will follow in North Becket Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Becket Volunteer Fire Department in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, which is in charge of arrangements.
