Rena Mae (Coope) Louison

Rena Mae (Coope) Louison, 93, of Franklin Courts, North Adams, an Adams native and former resident, died Thursday morning at her residence. Death was attributed to a heart seizure. Born on April 11, 1908 in Adams, daughter of the late William H. Coope and Cora B. Harrington Coope, she attended both Hoosac St. and Liberty St. Grammar schools in the town, she was a 1917 graduate of the Liberty St. School. Mrs. Louison was an early entrant in 1923 to the manufacturing life of Adams, gaining a position with the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Company where she was a member of the Quality Control Staff in both the Cloth & Silk Winding Section of the #3 Mill. She retired from the active work force in 1952 after 29 years. A communicant of Notre Dame/St. Thomas Aquinas Parish while in Adams, she was a serious needle work empressario with a particular interest in afghans & quilts which she provided for the the family members, neighbors and Church Bazaars. Mrs. Louison was the widow of Adolph N. Louison, who passed on in March 28th of this year. The couple were married August 29, 1945 in North Adams when Mr. Louison returned from service in the Second WW. She leaves a niece, Phyllis Flaherty, whom she raised as if she were her daughter, Ann Clairmont and Barbara Crews, also nieces. A nephew George E. Coope, several great nieces and nephews and 5 great/great nieces and nephews. She was predeased by 3 brothers, William, Charles and Edward Coope and a sister Myra Coope Sutton also deceased. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 27, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams, with its pastor, Rev. Daniel J. Boyle as celebrant. A prayer service will precede the Mass that morning at 10:30 a.m. in the McBride Funeral Home, 6 Liberty St., Adams. A visitation period will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the prayer service at 10:30 in McBrides. Burial will follow the service, in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory are suggested to the charity of the donors' choice.
