Richard H. Wittig, 91

ADAMS, Mass. —

Mr. Richard H. Wittig, 91, of Adams, died on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at North Adams Commons.

He was born in Adams on September 13, 1929, son of the late Gustave and Norma (Platner) Wittig. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School.

Mr. Wittig was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the United States Army until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1953.

Mr. Wittig worked for many years for the former Pfizer Corp in Adams until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lorraine R. Tremblay, whom he married on April 9, 1955; two sons Richard H. Wittig, Jr., and his wife Cindy of Rock Springs, WY and Mark Wittig and his wife Pam of Berlin, NY; three grandchildren, Lindsey Lara, Kristin Wittig and Kirt Wittig; four great grandchildren; two step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by six brothers and by four sisters.

Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date.

There are no calling hours.

The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, is in charge of arrangements.

To Richard's Family I offer my deepest condolences at this sad time. As a young boy, I remember Richard in my father's diner with his friends from Renfrew and Zylonite. He was a fun-loving and genuine individual with a gregarious nature, a great laugh and spirit. He was a good guy. His passing diminishes me. He will not be forgotten.

Lorraine, Dick. Mark and to the whole family. I can’t begin to tell you how my heart hurts over hearing of Richards passing. The Love not only he showed to me and my kids but all of you showed, will be a memory I will always cherish. Richard shaped part of who I am today with his wisdom and life lessons he taught me. We have lost a legend. I will never forget his stories from “Chief Reid” to “poor powh” and so many great stories in between. You rest easy Dick, you deserve that and so much more.
