Chester Consolini

Chester J. Consolini, 85, of State Line Road died Tuesday at Timberlyn Heights Nursing Home in Great Barrington. Born in West Stockbridge on April 6, 1916, son of Antonio and Antonia Veronesi Consolini, he attended the former Williams High School. He was a World War II Army veteran and served in Italy and southern France from 1941 to 1945. Mr. Consolini was employed as a welder at GE for many years, retiring in 1974. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a member of the Joseph A. Lombardi Jr. American Legion Post 254. He also was a member of the West Stockbridge Fire Department. Active in town politics, he was a tax assessor for several years and served on the Zoning Board of Appeals. He enjoyed playing golf at the Greenock Country Club in Lee where he was a member. He also enjoyed bowling. His wife, the former Lena Valesini, whom he married Dec. 17, 1941, in West Stockbridge, died March 18, 1977. He leaves a daughter, Anita Diller of Great Barrington; a son, Paul Consolini of Bath, Maine; two sisters, Corrina Smith and Rose Balestro, both of West Stockbridge, and four grandchildren. Chester was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at St. Patrick's Church, West Stockbridge, with the Rev. Steven McGuigan, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, West Stockbridge. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at the FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, Great Barrington.
