Daniel J. Dubis, 86

ADAMS, Mass. —
Mr. Daniel J. Dubis, 86, of Adams, died surrounded by his family on Monday, December 23, 2024 after a brief illness.
He was born in Adams on May 29, 1938, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Wol) Dubis. He attended schools in Adams and North Adams and graduated from the drafting program at Drury High School in 1956.
Mr. Dubis was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. A communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, he was very active in the church, having helped with bazaars and the maintenance of the St. Thomas Manor. Most recently he was a member of the Adams Beautification Committee.
Dan was known for his meticulous attention to detail and woodworking craftsmanship. He enjoyed skiing, biking, fishing, backpacking, and bird hunting with his brother and family. Hiking often involved quests for spectacular views which resulted in his trophy landscape photographs, which he called, “One for the wall.” He enjoyed travelling, especially to Hawaii and the Southwest.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (Hayer) Ziemlak Dubis, whom he married on November 23, 2001; two sons, Kevin Dubis of Savoy and Jeffrey Dubis and his wife Sherry of Wanakena, NY; his stepdaughter Susan Deeley and her husband Jeffrey of Adams; his stepson Steven Ziemlak and his wife Paula of Adams; his sister-in-law, Joan Dubis of Adams; four step grandchildren, J.J. Deeley, Joshua Deeley (Stephanie Brown) Stephanie Kluka (Jake), Ryan Ziemlak (Brianna); seven step great grandchildren; Jaelyn, Alyviah, Harper, James, Cameron, Marie Shae, and Willa; many nieces, nephews; cousins, and many close friends.
His first wife, Virginia “Ginger” Bishop, whom he married on February 22, 1963, died on August 28, 1994. He was also predeceased by his brother Leonard Dubis.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 12:00 NOON in Sacred Heart Church, 191 Elm St., Pittsfield. Calling hours at the church are Thursday morning from 11:00 A.M until 12:00 NOON.
Burial will be private for the family in the spring.
The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial donations be made to the SSK Preservation Fund, P.O. Box 328, Adams, MA 01220.
