Adolph C. Dziegiel

Adolph C. "Al" Dziegiel, 79, of 86 North Summer St. died yesterday afternoon at North Adams Commons Health Care Center. Born in Adams on Oct. 17, 1922, son of Stanislaw and Apolonia Kut Dziegiel, he attended Adams schools. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the 100th Division of the Seventh Army in the European theater. He received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Mr. Dziegiel was employed in the power transformer division of GE in Pittsfield for more than 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and a member of the Adams Hound and Hunt Club and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and sports. He leaves a brother, Thaddeus Dziegiel of Adams, and his brother-in-law, Frank Kruzel, with whom he resided. He was predeceased by a sister, Emilia Kruzel, who died April 14, 2000, and two brothers, Walter Dziegiel, who died Feb. 16, 1995, and Casimer Dziegiel, who was killed in action during World War II. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church by the Rev. John C. Chwalek, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus' Church or School through the funeral home.
