Doris Ziemba, 88

ADAMS, Mass. —

With deep sorrow we announce the unexpected passing of Doris (Faltus) Ziemba, 88, of Adams, who left us peacefully on Monday, May 18th, 2026 surrounded by family.

Born on May 3rd, 1938, in New Bedford, MA., to the late Adelbert and Avis (Borden) Faltus, she moved to this area as a young child and graduated from the former Adams High School with the Class of 1955.

She was predeceased in August 2016 by her husband of 60 years, Stanley Ziemba, Jr.

Doris’ life was defined by devotion, compassion and unwavering commitment to their family.

Doris began a 33-year-long career at the former South Adams Savings Bank where her service and devotion made a lasting impression on the community. She retired in 2000 as Executive Vice President, having served briefly as interim President, in addition to her longtime position as Loan Officer.

She attended St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Adams.

Doris and Stan shared a love for travel which took them to Florida each winter, and to the shores of Maine and Cape Cod every summer. These trips often included visits from family, and these adventures filed with laughter and memories were held dear. She believed that family was life’s greatest purpose, whether that meant offering guidance, celebrating milestones or simply showing up when it mattered most. She will be dearly missed for her vibrant and adventurous personality.

An avid golfer, she played as often as possible and relished her ladies league, as well as lively dinners with her many friends.

Doris also had “Lady Luck” on her side on her occasional trips to the casino. Her lucky number 7 was further supported by her cherished seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her children: Michael Ziemba (Terry) of Adams, Maryanne Hartley (Hilary) of CT, and Judith Milesi of Adams; seven grandchildren: Michael Ziemba Jr. (JoAnne), Laura Crane (Curtis), Sarah Ziemba (Zack Mason), Andrew Milesi (Alexis), Austin Milesi (Cecily), Rowan Hartley and Amelie Hartley; seven great-grandchildren: Taylor, Chase and Colton Ziemba, Carter and Jack Crane, Noah and Allie Milesi, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by her sister Avis Peirce of Enfield, CT.

A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Pop Cares, P.O. Box 482, Williamstown, MA; or to No Paws Left Behind animal shelter, 69 Hodges Cross Road, North Adams, MA 01247. My deepest condolences to Doris's family. I had the privilege and pleasure of playing golf with Doris in the Tuesday morning ladies league at Stamford Valley Golf. As a newbie to the game, she was always willing to share a tip or two. Play on Doris, hit em long and straight.
