Robert Joseph Senger, 66

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. —  Robert J. “Bob” Senger, 66, of Williamstown, passed away on November 1, 2026, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, Bob was the son of the late Henry and Teresa Senger. He moved with his family to Williamstown as a teenager and graduated from Mount Greylock Regional High School. He later studied automotive mechanics at a technical school in Enfield, Connecticut.

Bob was best known as the longtime owner and operator of Braytonville Garage in North Adams, which he ran for 40 years before retiring in December 2023. Throughout his career, he earned the trust and loyalty of generations of customers through his honesty, dedication, and willingness to go the extra mile.

When The Berkshire Eagle featured Bob upon his retirement, he reflected on the personal relationships he had built over the years, saying, “Some places just treat somebody as a number, but I know my customers and they know me.”

That sentiment reflected Bob’s approach to life and business. He valued friendship, loyalty, and treating people with kindness and respect.

A lifelong automobile enthusiast, Bob enjoyed classic cars and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with friends on weekends. He also treasured the many friendships he developed throughout the Berkshire community.

Bob is survived by his brother, Henry Senger and his wife, Ruddy; his sister, Tressa Senger; his brother and devoted caretaker, Carl Senger, and his husband, Jeffrey; and his brothers-in-law, John Dimling, husband of the late Gretchen, and Bob Munroe, husband of the late Mary. He was also a proud uncle to 8 nieces and nephews and 9 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Teresa Senger, and his two sisters, Mary Frances Munroe and Gretchen Dimling.

Bob will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, former employees, and the many loyal customers whose lives he touched over four decades.

Calling hours will be held Friday, November 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, West Chapel, 521 Main Street, North Adams, Massachusetts. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Patrick and Raphael Church, 54 Southworth Street, Williamstown, Massachusetts. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Northern Berkshire EMS (formerly Village Ambulance Service), P.O. Box 1045, North Adams, MA 01247, in appreciation of the compassionate care and assistance its crews provided to Bob over the years. Bobby will be sorely missed. He was always a quiet, humble teddy bear who willingly helped anyone who asked. People loved him. People savored chatting with him, particularly at Braytonville garage, about community issues and their car woes.

Special recognition goes to his younger brother, Carl. Carl is the faithful brother. t everyone wishes they had. Through thick or thin, Carl was there for Bobby throughout Bobby’s difficult illness.

Our hearts go out to the Senger family as they come to terms. with the loss of beloved Bobby. Know that many share in your sadness.

I'm so sorry to hear Bob has passed. He truly was a great person, I always brought my vehicles to him and knew that I could trust him and his work and he was fair, not taking advantage of me because I was a woman. I can't say enough good about him! May he RIP.

You weren’t ready… but then you were.
God has brought you
“Up to the mountain”… peace
You gave me shelter Bob when no one else could and helped me heal… I am alive because of your kindness.
The moment you passed I felt your soul go through the open window to fly home ?

Bob Senger was one of relatively few in the automotive trade who rightfully commended your respect. Bob was one of the few whose legend commanded only a deserved respect. There were dozens of Bob anecdotes, but his commanding stature stood above them all. He was spoken of well and not, but never disrespectfully.
