Pauline Barbara Gilman

Pauline Barbara Gilman, 72, of 6 Hoosac St. died early yesterday morning at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Adams on Dec. 17, 1929, daughter of Joseph and Eleanor Modzelewski Oleskiewicz, she was a 1948 graduate of the former Adams High School. She was last employed by Waverly Fabrics division of F. Schumacher & Co. in Adams for 10 years, retiring in 1991. She had previously worked for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. and Signet Co., both in Adams, and the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. and former Sprague Electric Co., both in North Adams. Mrs. Gilman was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas. She was a member of the Adams Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening and tag sales and was skilled at crocheting. Her husband, Bernard J. Gilman, whom she married Nov. 27, 1948, died June 7, 1993. She leaves two daughters, Nancy L. Snyder of Adams and Susan K. King of Stephentown, N.Y.; two sons, Jason D. Gilman of North Adams and David J. Gilman of Adams; a brother, Benedict Oleskiewicz of Adams; and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Pauline Gilman will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, at 8:15 from the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Joshua P. Snyder Memorial Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society through the funeral home. She leaves her grandchildren, Noah Snyder and Corinne Gilman, both of Adams, and Sabrina Superneau-Gilman of North Adams, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by another grandson, Joshua P. Snyder, who died May 11, 2002; three sisters, Victoria Coonce, Helen Sardos and Bernadette Strange; and three brothers, Herman, Albert and Joseph Oleskiewicz, who was killed during World War II.
