Angeline LaValley

Angeline LaValley, 94, of 46 Beech St. died Wednesday at Sweet Brook Health Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Italy on March 23, 1908, daughter of Vincent J. and Anna Maria Mancuso Modena, she came to the United States in 1923. She attended schools in Italy and in North Adams. Mrs. LaValley was employed by the former Wall Streeter and Gale shoe companies and by the former Hoosac Mills. She was last employed by Pedrin’s Dairy Bar. She was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. Her husband, Lador “Chick” LaValley, whom she married Aug. 25, 1930, died Aug. 10, 1982. They were married in St. Anthony’s Church. She leaves a son, Norman Lador LaValley Sr. of North Adams; a brother, Albert V. Modena of North Adams; two sisters, Viola Ponte and Gloria Pedrin, both of North Adams; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Mass for Angeline Modena LaValley will be celebrated at a later date at St. Anthony of Padua Church Parish Center by the Rev. Daniel J. O’Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Donations are suggested for Sweet Brook Health Care Center in Williamstown through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, which is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include three grandchildren, Norman L. LaValley Jr., Susan St. Pierce and Donna Leary; five step-grandchildren, James, David, Timothy and Daniel Jandran, and Rebekah LaVariere; six great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers, Lucy and Helen Modena, Theresa LaValley, and Louis and James Modena.
