Charles W. Keating Jr., 64

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Charles William Keating Jr., 64, of 24 Harding Ave. died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in North Adams on June 30, 1938, son of Mildred Wood Keating of North Adams and the late Charles William Keating Sr., he attended the former Holy Family School in the Greylock section and graduated from Drury High School in 1956. He served with the Navy on the USS Cecil and the USS Wilson as a machinist's mate. Mr. Keating was the maintenance supervisor at the Yankee Atomic nuclear power plant in Rowe until retiring in 1998. Prior to that, he had been employed as a machinist with the former James Hunter Machine and Sprague Electric companies. He was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Incarnation Church and later of Our Lady of Mercy Church. He was a longtime member of Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW and a member of the Greylock Community Club, North Adams Lodge 487 Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks and Richard A. Ruether Post 152 American Legion in Williamstown. He also was a member of the North Adams Country Club and enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating and woodworking. He and his wife, the former Catherine Brandalik, were married Jan. 21, 1961, in Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Besides his mother and his wife, he leaves two sons, James Jacob Keating of Centerville and Timothy Charles Keating of the town of Florida; a sister, Claire Bedard of North Adams; a brother, Lawrence Keating of Vero Beach, Fla., and five grandchildren, Nickolas Charles Keating, Khristyna Alyn Keating, Jacob James Keating, Benjamin James Keating and Sophia Catherine Keating. Another son, Charles William Keating III, died March 14, 1985. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Keating will be Friday at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, State Road, North Adams. Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Thursday, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
