Enfield B. “Flicky” Ford Sr

Enfield B. “Flicky” Ford Sr., 74, of The Avenue, South Egremont, died Sunday at home. Born in Birmingham, Ala., on Nov. 24, 1928, son of William W. and Sarah Ewing Ford, he attended North Fulton High School and Castle Heights Military Academy, both in Atlanta. In 1950, he received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Vanderbilt University. He then spent a summer in New York studying at the Cartoonist and Illustrators School until being drafted into the army. He was assigned to the 45th Division News as a cartoonist. He resided in the New York area until moving to Portland, Ore., for seven years, recently returning to the East Coast. Mr. Ford was director of corporate creative services for Time-Life, a position in which he handled various special assignments, including the launch promotion for People magazine and HBO, franchise presentations for the cable television division, and film and print materials for books, forest products, circulation and human resources operations. He was first hired by Life magazine in 1956 as a writer in the ad promotion department, where he stayed for 10 years. He retired from Time Inc. in 1985. He continued to produce multimedia shows, films, video presentations, print advertising and caricatures for Time and for other firms in the New York City area. He also had spent three years as promotion director of Holiday magazine and another three years at Gaynor and Ducas Advertising Agency as account supervisor for the National Geographic advertising promotion. He enjoyed fishing for trout while in Portland. He leaves his first wife, Margaret Whitner Hagberg of West Barnstable, and his former wife, Lisa Craig Davidson of Seattle; two sons, Enfield Berry Ford Jr. of Cold Spring, N.Y., and Walton Whitner Ford of Southfield; two daughters, Lillian Ashly Ford of South Yarmouth and Emily Ford Daeschler of Wyndmoor, Pa.; two brothers, William Walton Ford of Atlanta and Albert Ewing Ford of Hawaii, and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private memorial service for Enfield B. Ford will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to The College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship Fund at Vanderbilt University through FINNERTY AND STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
