Ann Catherine Gallagher

Ann Catherine Gallagher, 91, formerly of Simon Avenue, died yesterday at Linda Manor Extended Care Facility in Northampton, where she had resided for eight years. Born in Adams on Nov. 28, 1912, daughter of Henry and Louise A. Zwolinski Oparowski, she attended St. Stanislaus' School and the former C.T. Plunkett Junior High School. Mrs. Gallagher was employed by Aladco in Adams, retiring in 1975. She had previously worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates, and later by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams and in the fabrication department of the former Cornish Wire in Williamstown. A communicant of St. Thomas' Church, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Sancta Regina. She assisted in teaching Confraternity of Christian Doctrine with her husband, Paul E. Gallagher. Her husband, whom she married Feb. 10, 1934, in St. Stanislaus' Church, died April 2, 1997. She leaves a son, Michael D. Gallagher of Belchertown; two daughters, Virginia R. Wisnowski of Pittsfield and Patricia A. Lobik of North Adams; two brothers, Stanley Oparowski and Matthew Oparowski, both of Adams; two sisters, Blanche Morin and Mary Palmer, both of Adams, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated in thanks for the life of Ann Catherine Gallagher, who died Dec. 10, 2003, on Saturday, Dec. 13, at noon in St. Thomas' Church, Adams, by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Dec. 12, from 4 to 7 at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 2-8 Liberty St., Adams. Mrs. Gallagher also leaves nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Walter A. Oparowski, in August.
