Margaret Cecilia Blanquart

Margaret Cecilia Blanquart, 87, formerly of Ashland Park Apartments, died yesterday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown, where she had resided since November 2001. Born in North Adams on July 12, 1916, daughter of Francesco and Maria Marcheri Sacco, she was educated in local schools. Mrs. Blanquart was employed for 32 years with the former Cornish Wire Co. in Williamstown, retiring in 1982. She also had worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. and the former Sprague Electric Co. A lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church, she was a member of its Rosary Society and volunteered at its bazaar for many years. She was a member of AARP, the Sons of Italy Lodge 704, the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion Auxiliary and the Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW Auxiliary, where she volunteered in the annual poppy sale. She also enjoyed volunteering for political campaigns and at candidates' fund-raising dinners, including those of Mayor John Barrett III and state Rep. Daniel Bosley. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and group singing at the nursing home. She also had attended the North Adams Adult Day Health Center. Her husband, George W. Blanquart, whom she married July 19, 1958, in St. Anthony's Church, died April 6, 1991. She leaves two brothers, Anthony J. Sacco Sr. and Pasquale Sacco, both of North Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Margaret Sacco Blanquart, who died Jan. 13, 2004, will be Thursday, Jan. 15, at 8:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at St. Anthony of Padua Church by the Rev. Albert J. Dagnoli, SSCC. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Jan. 14, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for St. Anthony's Church or a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home. She was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Thomas, and brothers Samuel, who died in World War II, Ralph, Peter and Joseph. She leaves nieces and nephews.
