Roland Bernard Boucher

Roland Bernard Boucher, 73, of 1100 Mohawk Trail died Sunday evening at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vt. Born in North Adams on June 11, 1930, son of Armand and Edith LaBombard Boucher, he attended the former Notre Dame School and Drury High School. An Army veteran, he served as a corporal in Germany for 18 months with the occupation forces until he transferred to the Army Reserve in 1954. He served with Massachusetts National Guard in Adams for 20 years. Mr. Boucher was employed in the food service department of Williams College for about 15 years, retiring in 1992. Prior to that, he was employed by the state of Massachusetts. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. He was a member of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion and the Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He and his wife, the former Elizabeth Ann Giorgenti, were married May 12, 1956, in St. Anthony's Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Lynn M. Bizzi of Williamstown and Katherine A. Dean of Adams; a son, City Councilor Ronald A. Boucher of North Adams; three sisters, Jeannette Heidemann of Clarksburg, Rita Rowley of Pittsfield and Lillian Schwenk of Sterling Heights, Mich., and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Roland Boucher, who died March 7, 2004, will be Thursday, March 11, at 9:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 8. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to "Take and Eat" in care of the funeral home. Survivors include three grandchildren, Sarah, Joseph and Meghan Boucher, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers Albert, Alfred, William and Bernard Boucher. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
