Lois Wheeler Spring

Lois Wheeler Spring, 90, of Ashley Falls Road died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Boston on April 13, 1913, daughter of Miles Washburn Weeks and Lois Richards Frost Weeks, she was a graduate of Beaver Country Day School in 1930 and of Smith College in 1934. She moved to Sheffield from Scituate in 1962. Mrs. Spring had been an antiques dealer since 1947. During the 1950s and ‘60s, she exhibited in antiques shows in Boston, New York, Baltimore, Washington, Detroit and Lake Forrest, Ill. Since 1973, she had concentrated on conducting business from her home in Sheffield. She was a charter member of the Berkshire County Antiques Dealers Association, a longtime member of the Trustees of Reservations and the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities, both based in Boston. Always interested in birds and animals, she was a supporter of the Massachusetts and National Audubon societies. She leaves a sister, Sarah "Sally" Weeks Turner of Clayton, Calif. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Lois Wheeler Weeks Spring will be conducted at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Little Guild of St. Francis' Animal Shelter in care of FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by two nieces, Martha Richards Weeks Windhurst of New Hampshire and Nancy Gale Settle of California, and four nephews, Andrew Gray Weeks Jr. and Robert Gardner Weeks of Colorado, Warren Washburn Weeks of Texas and Philip Kenneth Turner of California. She was predeceased by her brothers, Warren Washburn Weeks and Andrew Gray Weeks, and a sister, Eleanor Frost Weeks.
