Robert James DeMarsico

Robert James DeMarsico, 69, of 17 Tyler St. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he had been admitted Sunday following a battle with cancer. Born in North Adams on Oct. 28, 1934, son of Anthony and MaryAlice Lanoue DeMarsico, he graduated from Drury High School and from Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield. Mr. DeMarsico was employed in the shipping department of the former Sprague Electric Co., retiring after 32 years. He was first employed with the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club and the Sprague Retirees. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid fan of the Yankees. He and his wife, the former Rena E. Tatro, were married Sept. 27, 1959, at First Baptist Church of Stamford, Vt. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Anthony J. DeMarsico and Michael R. DeMarsico, both of North Adams, and Glen A. DeMarsico of Hatfield; two sisters, Patricia LeClaire of Williamstown and Phyllis Lefebvre of Bear, Del.; two brothers, Francis A. DeMarsico of Arlington, Vt., and Donald R. DeMarsico of North Adams, and 11 grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Robert James DeMarsico, who died March 24, 2004, will be celebrated Friday at 1:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church by the Rev. Daniel O'Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling Hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass., will be Friday from 11:30 until 1. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams Ambulance Service or North Adams Little League through the funeral home. Survivors include 11 grandchildren, Heather DeMarsico, Amanda Kanelos, Anthony J. DeMarsico Jr., Aubrey DeMarsico, Kailey DeMarsico, Michael DeMarsico II, Adams DeMarsico, Leigha DeMarsico, Tristan Ryczek, Dillon DeMarsico and Kendall DeMarsico; uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws. A sister, Theresa DeMarsico, died Sept. 12, 1936. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play in Little League in North Adams.
