Frances Wojcik

Frances Wojcik, 88, of 4 Columbia St. died yesterday morning at home. Born in Scranton, Pa., on Nov. 22, 1915, daughter of Marcin and Anna Prucnal Gajda, her family moved to Poland when she was 8. She returned to the United States in 1939, living in Adams until moving to Connecticut in 1958. She moved back to Adams from West Hartford, Conn., in 1996. Mrs. Wojcik was employed by Aetna Life Insurance Co. in Hartford for six years, retiring in 1980. Earlier, she had worked for 15 years at the Robinson School in West Hartford. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. While in West Hartford, she was a communicant of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford and a member of its Rosary Society. Her husband, Casimer J. Wojcik, whom she married Nov. 9, 1936, died July 18, 1996. She leaves three sisters, Valentina Oparowski of Adams, Louise Strzepek of Iselin, N.J., and Mary Prokop of Strzyzow, Poland; two brothers, Casimer Gajda of Wethersfield, Conn., and Walter Gajda of New Britain, Conn.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her son, Walter Wojcik, died Dec. 31, 1991. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Frances Wojcik, who died April 4, 2004, will be Wednesday at 12:15 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 1 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus Kostka. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, April 6, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Members of St. Stanislaus' Rosary Sodality will meet at the funeral home at 3:45 to recite the rosary and pay their respects. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus' Church or School through the funeral home. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Carol A. Wojcik of Worthington. Two brothers are deceased: Stanley Gajda, who was killed in action in World War II in 1943, and Edward Gajda.
