Thomas E. Moran

Thomas E. Moran, 51, of 198 Orchard St. died Friday afternoon at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a short illness. Born in North Adams on Oct. 11, 1952, son of Thomas E. Moran of Clarksburg and the late Isabelle C. Pierce Moran, he was a 1972 graduate of Charles H. McCann Technical School in North Adams, where he was a member of the honor society. In 1974, he earned an associate's degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. In 1987, he graduated from Brom's Academy in Holyoke as a master barber. Mr. Moran was last employed as a manager by Filene's and J.C. Penney department stores, both at the Berkshire Mall in Lanesboro. From 1991 to 1996, he owned and operated Thom's Barber Shop. Also a chef, he worked at McCann and Williamstown Elementary schools and taught culinary arts at Pathfinder Regional High School in Palmer. He also was head chef at the former River House and worked as a barber at St. Pierre's Barber Shop, both in Williamstown. He was employed for a short time in the medical records department at North Adams Regional Hospital. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of St. Stanislaus' School Parent-Teacher Group. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, interior decorating, art, projects with his family and traveling. He and his wife, the former Bernadette Czubryt, would have celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary June 9. Besides his wife and father, he leaves a son, Aaron Moran of Adams; a daughter, Christie Wanda Guyette of Adams; five sisters, Laurie Newlands of Savoy, Patricia Moran of Clarksburg, Sandra Larabee of Cheshire, and Kathleen Lynn and Christine Mason, both of North Adams; six brothers, Timothy Moran of Gardner, Joseph Moran of Clarksburg, Brian Moran and Michael Moran, both of North Adams, and Bruce Moran and Terence Moran, both of Adams, and two granddaughters. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Thomas E. "Thom" Moran, who died April 30, 2004, will be Tuesday, May 4, at 9 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Stanislaus' Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus in Adams. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus' Church or School in care of the funeral home. He also leaves a son-in-law, Edward Guyette Jr.; four brothers-in-law, Richard Lynn, Peter Mason, Kenneth Larabee and Glen Newlands; four sisters-in-law, Donna, Bessie, Karen and Diane Moran, and two granddaughters, Brittany and Alexis Guyette. His mother, Isabelle Pierce Moran, died Jan. 3, 1997. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved granddaughters and traveling with the love of his life, Bernadette. He was a dear friend and confidant, a beloved husband, father, papa, brother and son. He loved life and always lived it to the fullest. We will keep him in our hearts forever and for always.
