Richard Edward Collenburg

Richard Edward Collenburg, 54, of 37 Elm St. died yesterday at home after a long illness. Born in Queens, N.Y., on Oct. 15, 1949, son of Frank W. and Lydia Margaret Lang Collenburg, he graduated in 1971 from Rose Kennedy School in Freeport, N.Y. He lived most of his life in Merrick, N.Y., until moving to Dalton in 1987. He had resided at the Berkshire Family and Individual Resources residence in Adams for a year. Mr. Collenburg was employed by the Berkshire County ARC Advantage Employee Network from 1992 until 2002 in cleaning and maintenance at Polymatrix in Pittsfield, Jiminy Peak in Hancock and United Methodist Church in Lenox. He was a former member of Merrick Methodist Church. He enjoyed country music, bowling and watching sports, especially the Red Sox. He leaves a sister, Joyce F. Lacatell of Dalton, with whom he made his home for many years. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A celebration of life for Richard E. Collenburg, who died May 15, 2004, will be conducted Tuesday at 10 at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, Dalton, by the Rev. Roger A. Davis, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Pittsfield. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9 until the time of the service. Burial will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, N.Y., at the convenience of the family. Survivors include his brother-in-law, Richard E. Lacatell of Dalton; a niece, Karen J. Danforth of Dalton; a nephew, Jeffrey R. Lacatell of Pittsfield; several cousins, a grandniece and several grandnephews. Mr. Collenburg also leaves many friends among the BCARC and BFAIR communities, whose compassion and loving care filled his days with joy and camaraderie. The family has requested memorial donations be made to BCARC or to BFAIR in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
