Emelda Yarter

Emelda Yarter, 82, of 9 Anthony St. died Thursday at home. Born in Thetford Mines, Quebec, on Sept. 14, 1921, daughter of Desire and Doria Paquin Langlois, she came to North Adams with her parents as a child and attended the former Holy Family School in Greylock. She worked for the former Lloyd's Bakery in North Adams for several years, but was a homemaker for most of her life. She moved to Adams in 1973. While in Adams, she was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas' churches. Her husband, Russell Yarter, whom she married Oct. 5, 1946, died May 23, 1993. She leaves a son, Louis Yarter of Adams; two brothers, Emile Langlois of Fulda, Germany, and Arthur Langlois of Williamstown; one sister, Theresa Gorman of Orange City, Fla.; two stepgrandchildren, and one great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Emelda Langlois Yarter, who died June 10, 2004, will take place Monday, June 14, at 11 in St. Thomas' Church in Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of Notre Dame-St. Thomas-St. Stanislaus' churches. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. Calling hours at the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., will be Monday from 9 until the time for the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home. Survivors include two stepgrandchildren, Robin Rondeau and Robert Wing; one great-grandchild, Tucker Wing, and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, William Langlois, Joseph Langlois and Alfred Langlois, and one sister, Blanche Reno, are deceased.
