Frank A. Iannuzzelli

Frank A. Iannuzzelli, 83, of 268 East Road, a former town assessor and firefighter, died Sunday at home. Born Francesco Antonio Iannuzzelli in Tricarico, Italy, on March 13, 1921, son of Pangrazio and Christina Maria Lamorte Iannuzzelli, the family left Naples in 1930 and landed at Ellis Island. He attended schools in Staten Island. He enlisted in the Army in 1939 and was in Pearl Harbor when World War II broke out. He served six years and was awarded several medals and ribbons. Mr. Iannuzzelli was employed by the New York City Housing Authority, retiring in 1976 as superintendent. A summer resident of Alford since 1968, he moved there permanently in 1976. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church, a life member of James A. Modolo VFW Post 8348 and the National Rifle Association, and a member of American Legion Southern Berkshire Post 127 in Great Barrington and the Greater Years of West Stockbridge. He was also a past commander of VFW Post 248 in Staten Island, a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Mount Everett Council 513 and a fourth-degree member of Bishop Conaty Assembly. He was a former member of the West Stockbridge Sportsmen's Club. While in Staten Island, he was past commander of VFW Post 248 and a past grand marshal of the Columbus Day Parade. He enjoyed shuffleboard and was a Yankees fan. He and his wife, the former Marie Yeomans, were married April 13, 1968, in Staten Island. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, June Ritchie of Morganville, N.J., and Denise Hatch of Alford; a brother, Nicholas Iannuzzelli of New Jersey; four granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Frank A. Iannuzzelli who died Sunday, June 20, 2004 will be Friday, June 25, at 10 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Peter's Church celebrated by the Rev. Shaun O'Connor, MIC. Burial with military honors will follow at Alford Center Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 24, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Without a doubt, Frank would request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be put into an education fund for his beloved twin granddaughters, Courtney and Sheena Hatch, c/o the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He also leaves two other granddaughters, Christine Falcone and Andrea Hillman of New Jersey; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Allie and Lucas Hillman; his son-in-law, Roger Ritchie, and his daughter's fiancé, Bob LeBeau.
